![]() I tried customizing a layout using the web-editor to colorize a simple layout similar to the 2 channel layout in the Launchpad mk1 and mk2 mapping, and it seems to work, but since this unit is velocity sensitive Mixxx seems pickup on this, so maybe disabling velocity sensitivity will map better, because as-is how hard you press a button/switch sometimes doesn’t stay pressed in software.įor what it’s worth, Bitwig Studio also has no mapping for this specific version… there’s 2 really solid mappings I found and I’m not sure if it’d help in developing a Mixxx mapping but here’s the bitwig studio mappings i found: Manual Midi mapping seems to work fine in the “Custom Mode” however the default modes seem to be more esoteric.Īll the previous Launchpad Mixxx mappings available in the main mappings are not compatible but will load and it seems to be getting some midi messages from it, but not enough to make it usable. Mixxx sees 2 internal devices for the Launchpad-X, a “DAW IN” and “MIDI” device. Also, you’re required to make a account and register to access the site the first time (i think if you bookmark it, it might let you in but saving your mappings to your account seems to be the workflow they’re having in mind, but it does give you ability to send the mappings to the device itself as you create it). There’s a standalone version of this editor that appears to be windows/mac only (I haven’t tested it with wine yet). There’s a “Custom” mode that has an editor accessible through a web browser that has web-midi to customize colors, midi messages, etc… which all seems to be plug n’ play on linux as well. The device has standalone sequencing and note motes that are baked in. Launchpad-X doesn’t have dedication midi in/out/thru like the Launchpad Pro, also the device is USB-C which is nice. General Info from my testing (using a MSI laptop running Manjaro Linux, latest Mixxx Beta from AUR and latest available stable Manjaro Kernel at time of writing): Since there’s little remarks on using this with Mixxx (or linux in general), I figured I’d start a thread to share my first hand findings, as the documentation online that exists is pretty confusing. ![]() ![]() Just got a new Novation Launchpad-X because that seems to be the only one I could get at a local Guitar Center store. ![]()
